What most won’t see: less than 24 hours after the Royals were eliminated from playoff contention, Witt was on the field early doing voluntary one-on-one defensive drills with infield coach José Alguacil.


There was no playoff spot to win and no milestone tied to those extra reps. But Witt treated Game 158 the same way he treated Game 1, with relentless work ethic and the desire to improve every day.
